So, I’ve been using my Galaxy S22 Ultra for 3 years, no drops, handled with care. Recently updated to 6.1.1, waited until it was fully charged, not plugged in during the process—did everything right. But now it won’t boot up at all.
Took it to the service center and they tried to reapply the patches, but still no luck. And then, the shocking news: they tell me it’s a mainboard issue and not worth repairing. I’m furious—how can a flagship phone have its mainboard fry just from a software update??
I’ve lost over 400GB of data, and Samsung is basically saying “too bad.” This is ridiculous, especially since I still have my Galaxy S10+ and S10 from 7 years ago, working just fine. Is this just a way to push us into buying new phones? What happened to quality hardware and reliable updates?
Anyone else experiencing this? I can’t be the only one going through this mess, right?

Hello @justjaxy and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum 👋
I'm disheartened to hear of the issues your currently experiencing with your phone 😔
It is possible that the issue wasn't the software update, but that unfortunately the internals failed.
In the UK samsung applies a Limited 2 Year Manufacturer's Warranty to cover non accidental damage.
If a phone is over that timeframe and samsung care+ hasn't been added , then the other options could be Home Contents Insurance ,and or some bank accounts provide cover as a perk of the account.
If no added cover is applied then if the cost of the repair outweighs the cost of the phone then it would make sense to purchase a phone that then is covered again by the Manufacturer's Warranty and will be sent Software updates and security patches for so many years.
I appreciate your phone has lasted 3 years but sadly tech can and will fail for various reasons.
When you say lost 400gb of data may I assume you haven't backed upto samsung cloud , onedrive or one of the other online vault that are available.
If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask 😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

I am having a similar issue. My signal drops constantly after the update. I already reset the sim services, reset the entire phone and even booked it for repairs. I am still having signal issues. Calls will just drop and internet will just suddenly keep trying to reconnect.
Can anyone please tell me what I can do to have a working cellphone?

My S22 died too around 3 weeks back. There are almost 5-10 different posts I came across Samsung community & X (Twitter) reporting the same issue. After customer service center gave me a quotation of 42k INR (500 USD), I escalated over Twitter only to hear generic replies about how someone would reach out but it's all for show. No one reached out, No resolution!

My S22 Ultra went into a bootloop after the 6.1.1 update and now appears to be completely bricked.
