Super Fast Charger

I've got the superfast charger from Samsung on an S22 Ultra.

My question is should this charger work at three speeds, slow, fast and superfast.

For example, if I don't want to use superfast all the time due to increased battery wear, should it work at fast speed when that is switched on? Because if so then it doesn't. It only operates at superfast or slow speed, if fast is enabled it makes no difference.

I've confirmed that fast is still possible by using an old charger. So I'm just wondering if this is how it's supposed to be or if there's a fault?

Thanks

@T222: The Fast and Super fast charging options should affect the charging rate, depending on which one you have toggled on, however the type of charging connection will only be visible on screen for a few moments after you initially connect to your charger.

With this in mind, please can you try heading to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > More battery settings > Toggle on 'Fast charging' and toggle off 'Super fast charging'. Now, Tap the Side Key to put your phone in an idle/locked state, then connect to your charger. Does it briefly say 'Fast charging' on screen after you plug it in?

You can also check the charging rate after connecting to your charger by heading to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery, and checking the status below the progress bar at the top of the screen. Let me know how you get on.

You can switch off fast charging in battery settings on your phone under "More battery settings" I hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. No it doesn't briefly say fast charging, only charging, and the time remaining reflects that of slow charge. If I plug my old charger in then it says fast charging and a shorter remaining time.

So my new superfast charger is only doing slow or superfast. I don't understand why fast isn't available with it.

Both fast and superfast are toggled on. Have also tried rebooting the phone.

There's no evidence that shows 25W or 45W charging has any discrepancy to battery deterioration (or any other fast charging methods) as opposed to 15W or less. I would question why anyone would opt for inefficient charging speeds in the first place. It's like saying the older SoCs ran at 2.5GHz (purely an example) and the new ones run at 3GHz and therefore asking Samsung to throttle back to slower speeds. Slower charging speeds offers nothing beneficial beyond a warmer phone for a longer period while charging.
