Well I bought my s22 ultra october 2022 paid in full bought through ao.com

Just 2 weeks ago 2-5-2025 my phone started rebooting in the middle of  phone calls a few days later  it went into a boot loop and never stopped until my battery died,  I've been quoted from £130 - £180 from repairers to have a new motherboard fitted, the thing is, if I pay out to save my much loved phone (that's in perfect visual condition which I've looked after like a delicate flower for the 2 years ive owned it) will replacing my new expensive mother board do the exact same thing as soon as it tries to update again???? Should I bother ?  I've had to buy a new S25 that I wasn't planning on which is annoying 😒.

Do samsung even care ????

Will there be compensation??

Will I have to cross the line with my next phone and buy an apple i phone next time?  I must admit I have developed a dreadful loss of faith in samsung products after this s22 mother board boot loop thing.   I'm worried for my s25's future am I going to find an issue 2 years into my 3 year contract and end up buying yet another phone whilst still in contract but out of warranty???

While most phones are perfectly fine for years, not every device is perfect. Seems you just got very unlucky here. It's not common or normal for this to happen.

If the update caused the issue, flashing the OS using a pc would fix it. Repair shops saying it needs a new motherboard probably means the hardware just happened to fail around the same time as the update. A lot goes on during large updates, sometimes it's just enough to push a device over the edge.

If you're willing to try anything, try to get into to the recovery menu if you can, then put the device into download mode. If you can't get that menu, I believe there's a button combo to get into download mode but you'd need to google that. Once in download mode, smart switch on a pc can reflash the entire device with new software. If the issue is update related, that'd fix it. It will wipe everything from the device though. Kinda saying this as if you're willing to replace the board and lose the data, trying to reflash it for free is probably an option for you

It's a known issue. Samsung will repair for free even if out of warranty as long as you have proof of purchase. Just took mine to a Samsung centre today and they were very good.
