Hi everyone,
I’m posting because the boot loop issue after the One UI 6.1 update is clearly widespread, and I want to gauge just how big this problem really is.
Is anyone else dealing with a bricked Galaxy S22 or a constant boot loop since the update? I keep seeing new posts about it almost every day.
My phone was working perfectly fine before the update. After installing it, it suddenly stopped working. Now, it’s stuck in a boot loop, and on the rare occasion it gets to the home screen, it crashes and starts looping again.
I’ve tried everything Samsung suggested: clearing the cache, factory resets—you name it. Nothing worked. I even had a Samsung repair tech come to my house. They suggested my motherboard needs to be replaced but refused to fix it under warranty because of a small, superficial crack on my screen (which can barely even be picked up by a camera).
This hairline crack has been there for over a year. It has nothing to do with the motherboard issue, and my touchscreen is working perfectly fine.
What’s even more frustrating is seeing countless others on Reddit, Samsung forums, Twitter, and beyond reporting the same problem—yet Samsung keeps denying responsibility and is shifting the blame onto the consumer.
If Samsung wants to argue that my phone’s reboot loop is caused by a tiny screen crack, then what about everyone else? What about all the other phones with the exact same issue across the globe with 0 screen and cosmetic damage - and the numerous motherboards they’ve already replaced?
The pattern is obvious: this update has caused widespread failures and they are now charging for repairs wherever possible. I even have logs showing the update in question followed by recovery reboots immediately afterward.
It’s outrageous that a £1300 phone has failed in 23 months, and Samsung’s response is a £500+ repair quote for a phone which is laughably now only worth ~£400 brand-new.
That said, I’d really like to hear from others, especially those in the UK but also worldwide, about how you’re handling this situation.
If your phone is out of warranty, you’ve been denied a warranty claim, or you’re experiencing this issue, please share your story. Adding your voice helps build a stronger case and puts more pressure on Samsung to finally take responsibility for this widespread problem.
P.S. If you’re experiencing this issue, and have read this far down - clicking “I have this problem too” under the title of this post may help raise awareness

Я из России.
Тоже проблемы с этими перезагрузками после обновления в декабре.
Зависает. Греется при перезагрузках. Перегружается.
Самсунг s22 на Exynos.
Телефон стал приносить проблемы и беспокойства.
Если проблема не решится, следующий телефон буду покупать китайский.
Я попробую. А если понравится, то прощай Самсунг.

My SAMSUNG S22 ULTRA completely broke down, performing endless restarts. The warranty has expired as the phone was purchased in June 2022, since I had to wait in line for it to be manufactured. I had pre-ordered the phone in February, but it was only delivered after 3 or 4 months.
The fact is that the phone was ruined by Samsung's own update, not by the user. Therefore, Samsung should take responsibility for their actions. Not everyone rushes to replace their phones with newer models every year, especially since there are hardly any significant differences between them anymore.

This just happened to my SECOND S22 Ultra. I had my original phone since release with no issues or damage. It started looping in August 2024 and I received replacement though my protection plan with ATT. Not even 5 months later my replacement is looping. I did some research and see how big this issue is with S22 phones. I was told by ATT they can only send me one more phone and if I have the issue again I will receive the market value for the phone to buy a replacement. As of 1/08/2025, that amount is $275 for a $1400 phone that I've never even dropped and pay $12 a month for insurance!! And Samsung will just say "its out of warranty" How is this legal!!

What is the email?
This has happened to me twice and I was told there is no way to get the data off if the device if it does not power on or stay on, except for a data recovery service. That is what I had to do and I was quoted $2700, but talked them down to $650. Still insanely expensive! I used Secure Data Recovery Services. Hope this helps.

Thanks from putting this information on here. I use my phone like most ppl for everything and when a perfectly fine phone just crashes the customer has to scramble to figure out what happened and get the device replaced. It cost more than money... I am waiting on a call from a tech to fix my heater at home and I filed out applications for a new job, now my phone doesn't work. This is the 2nd S22 Ultra that has done this in 5 months. The first time this happened I was at the hospital with my wife while she was in labor and my family could not contact us. These devices cost way too much for Samsung to not at least take accountability.

All of you who are experiencing this issue, can you check which processor your device has? Is it Snapdragon or Exynos? I'm wondering if the problem occurs only on Exynos. To check your processor, simply install the CPU-Z app from Google Play and go to the "Device" tab. The Exynos processor is labeled as s5e9925 there.

Thank you so much for this - it aptly captures my sentiments and frustrations. My S22 Ultra packed up last seek after the battery wouldn't charge. Took it to a Samsung Center and was quite dismissively told it was a motherboard issue. I purchased the device in June 2022 and it is out of warranty. I have been asked to pay equivalent of $450 to replace the motherboard. Unfortunately, I will have to lose all my data and media.
It is heartbreaking to read that this problem may have been caused by the recent 6.1 One UI updates. The 512GB device had served me extremely well with no hitches prior to the sudden packup.
I hope Samsung takes responsibility and fixes up.

SM-S908B with Exynos (s5e9925) here. Issue still happening few times a day. Crashes almost instantly when I turn WiFi/Hotspot on.
Also, I observed that sometimes WiFi won't launch, it will stay for multiple seconds in turning on status, then goes back to off, so indeed it is something related to it.

Update - one week ago I sent email to CEO via Samsung website with description of my bootloop problem. Today the service centre called me saying that I need to send my device to the authorised repair centre, which sounds obvious, however person that I was talking with told me that if they won't detect any external damage and if they detect that the device indeed broke by itself, then they will repair it for free, despite being already out of warranty. I asked whether they are already aware of bootloop problems on S22 devices and he answered "Yes".
I don't have an idea if they will accept my complaint and repair phone for free, but based on his words there is a hope, as it looks that they already know about this problem. Poland.
