Photos disappeared without deleting

Since the last update I've had loads of trouble with pictures becasue of the link to one drive which exceeded the storage, I've unlinked now, but deleted loads from my one drive to get it below 5gb. But just realised my phone itself is missing hundreds of photos?? Altho my phone storage is fine and I've deleted nothing from there, where are they (not in any recycle bin) and how do I get them back??

My s21 did the exact same. I've managed to find most on Google photos. But I would like to know where they went or how they disappeared

My Google account looks like it's synced recently, and removed those photos too, lost the last 2 years 😭😭

Hopefully there's an answer out there, as it's only happened on the recent update. Some forums have mentioned corrupted storage issues. Pictures are always difficult to lose. But you still have the memories and now an excuse to go make more. Maybe a time to regularly print special photos. Good luck getting sorted.

Your photos have to be sync to onedrive for them to back up, once you delete that link and delete any photo data then you've lost them. Samsung Gallery has to sync to Onedrive as Samsung Gallery no longer does unless you backup your photos to Google Photo's app
