I have a S22 ultra and i had to factory reset it because i was having problems with the software due to some updates. When the reset was over, i noticed that my SIM card was not working. After some investigation i noticed that the IMEI was blocked to the USA and now i can't use my european SIM card like before. What can i do to have it "unblocked" so i can use an european SIM card?

Thank you

Hi!
I'm sorry to hear that your IMEI is blocked. I think this is the way to fix it:

It sounds like the factory reset may have triggered a restriction tied to the IMEI, preventing the use of your European SIM card. Here are steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Verify IMEI Status: Dial *#06# to confirm your IMEI number and check its status with your original carrier. If the IMEI is blocked, you'll need to contact the carrier to resolve the issue.

2. Contact the Original Carrier: Reach out to the carrier that originally locked the device. Explain the situation and request an IMEI unblock. They may require proof of ownership and payment of any outstanding balances.

3. Unlock the Device: If the IMEI is not blocked but the device is locked to a U.S. carrier, request an unlock code from the carrier. Once unlocked, the phone should work with European SIM cards.

4. Check for Software Updates: Ensure your device is running the latest software version. Sometimes, compatibility issues can arise due to outdated firmware.

5. Samsung Support: If all else fails, contact Samsung support directly. They may be able to assist with device-specific issues.

That should hopefully work. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Let me know if you need more help. Thanks!

Hello! Thank you for your response!

I tryed reaching out to AT&T (the carrier) and they said that it was not possible to get the unlock because it was tied to the original buyer and that person had to revoke the account so i can get my unlock, what is practically impossible...

Hello 👋 @Members_5PlMQ1c

Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum Section for UK and Ireland Members.

It might be beneficial to also submit a post in your own section of the forum.

In the UK a factory reset wouldn't typically affect the status of the availability to network sim cards.

In the UK only the network can unlock a phone to all network's.

If the phone was purchased from and supplied by a network then only they can assist.

I wish you well.

So I'm a bit stuck for answers on this. You can try contacting samsung like I said before. Or...
Is it possible to go to trusted third-party services who work with this kind of stuff. They do come with a cost, though. Just make sure they are definitely trustworthy and aren't gonna scam you.

Personally I would recommend returning the phone back if your still having issues. Where did you buy the S22 Ultra from?

Samsung support UK link -

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/contact/

For none UK -

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/contact/

If this doesn't work, then I would say just get another phone I'm afraid.

I once had a similar problem and decided to return the phone and look for other options, I recommend you do the same while you can.
