I've just started using my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, but there seems to be an annoying bug I. The software. When I select apps to see their permissions it just shows a white screen with de headings "Allowed" and "Not allowed". It does not matter if the theme is dark or light mode.

Are you sure you weren't using a theme before that is causing colour clash? I had a similar situation on my S21 Ultra because of a theme that was previously installed. For some reason remnants of the theme remained after applying another theme.

Hey ! I'm kind of relieved I found some other users experiencing the same problem ! I searched all over the web and found nothing but this trend and another one I started on Reddit.

Is it worth asking for an exchange from the shop where I bought it ? Or is it happening to all the S22 ultra's around ?

I am experiencing the same issue, after I received my Galaxy Note 22 Ultra today. I did try to change resolution,  font size, applied new theme and nothing. I hope there is going to be a fix soon.

I thought I give you guys an update.

1. I did try to delete system cache - no luck issue still there

2. I spend 3 hours on chat an remote session with Samsung care and we did try:

   a) Change Theme to dark theme / dark mode - no luck issue still there

   b) Change resolution  - no luck issue still there

   c)  Change contrast and zoom and other display related settings  - no luck issue still there

3. Samsung Care suggested to restart in safe mode, but the issue persisted in safe mode

4. Samsung Care suggested to Reset all settings - The issue was still there

5. As a last resort and as I did get the phone only yesterday I did  do a factory reset and that did fix the problem. (Only spend half of night setting the phone to what I wanted to be)

I am uncertain at this stage if it was SmartSwitch transfer of data between my Note20Ultra and the S22Ultra or any of the downloaded applications did cause the issue.

I am going to update all the default apps on the phone to the latest versions on Play Store and Galaxy store and will do some tests. Hopefully I can report some results.

Thanks for the detailed explanation..
Yeah I have tried a lot of the things you did with no luck..
Was worried that the only way was to factory reset!
When you did that did you use SmartSwitch again?

Hello Devesconnect,

I did use the SmartSwitch yesterday after the factory reset to move the data from the Note20Ultra onto the S22Ultra and this time around I had success. The permission tab works fine after I fully set-up my phone.

What I did differently this time though is; I went into Custom transfer and under Settings I did untick - not to transfer - Phone settings; App settings; Wifi and Bluetooth. I also didn't transfer the Home screen data.

The rest transferred just fine.

I know this is a drastic measure and it is a shame that the phone has to be factory reset, I would have wished there would have been an easier option, but at least my phone works now without any glitches that I can see.

Hopefully someone else can find a better solution, but I now do have a fully functional phone.

Thanks for that!
The problem I have though is that I don't have my old phone anymore so can't do the Smart Switch... So factory reset is a big deal! Would take me a log time to reset up the phone how I like it.

Just a thought here. Can you do Samsung Cloud backup. Factory reset your phone and restore the data from backup without ticking on the Setting and the Home screen option?

Mine does the same thing. Samsung tech worked on mine for two hours one evening and never fixed it. I did a factory reset and it worked properly for three days and then right back to the same issue. They are sending a new phone. Hopefully that works as I can't change permissions on apps I need location or other permissions.
