Google Pay and fingerprint confirmation

Is there a way on forcing google pay to ask for fingerprint confirmation for all transactions?

I know that the phone has to be unlock, I am not after that setting. I just want a simple fingerprint confirmation before the transaction is made.

I have tried but I am only going in circles. It seems that it was a simple setup but for some reason on the latest version of the app on android 12 is impossible.

Is this to do with purchase on your phone online or in store payment with Google Pay

I haven't seen a way to make Google Pay require authentication for payment.  It works the same as contactless cards where you just need to tap.  You don't need to unlock the phone to make payment, will work if the screen is on.

Although this isn't a specifically Samsung-related problem, but it is still relevant today. Not having any authentication before paying online, even if I had to previously unlock my device myself is very insecure regarding the bank account. If I leave my computer unlocked, someone can just pay for whatever they want with my registered google account, without any authentication happening before the purchases. I can't believe that there is no setting to change that to this day.
