Correct pin/swipe pattern not being recognized anymore, cant change lock type either

As the title says, my S22 started experiencing a problem with the locking feature after the One UI 6 update. On January 4th 2024 in the middle of the day I was unable to unlock my phone with my fingerprint. I kept getting something along the lines of "Fingerprint data has been corrupted, please use the pattern to unlock your device". Problem was that even the pattern wasnt working anymore and it kept telling me "wrong pattern". I did a force restart by holding down the power button and volume down button. Once it restarted it started working normally up to 3x when unlocking before the problem started happening again. Now after 2 days it doesnt work at all and i had to remove the locking type and change it to swipe since thats the only way i can unlock my phone at this point. If i try to change it to any other locking type it tells me "Lock type has already been changed. Please try using the new lock type". I have performed both "wipe cache partition" in recovery mode and factory resetting my device but neither has fixed my issue.

This is extremely inconvenient as my bank app requires me to have a lock on my phone to use it. I've tried clearing partition cache and that didnt help. I then did a factory reset and that didnt help either.

Is anyone else having this problem or should i consider RMA-ing my phone with my carrier, as the phone was bought in August 2023? This started happening at the exact time i got the option to update to One UI 6, i don't know how that could cause this major of an issue though.

 It will then be blocked for 24 hours. I've had my smartphone locked for a month now. Samsung couldn't help but help, it's terrible. The company doesn't comment on it, ignores it. And we have to lose data and go without access to a smartphone.

And you know what, I got an update in the new Samsung today, but I'm now afraid to install an update. Samsung companies have problems with the new one

This is the thing. I know that some things are common with beta versions or, being on Windows on my PC since 1995, I know how some updates can crash your system. But there, I have 90% of all my data on my external physical hard drives. I know, the world of mobile phones is a different one - But I don't like to have all pictures on some cloud all the time (for their AI Training...eventually). I paid a ton of money for this "premium" device, and one part of it is that it just works. I will grab a USB Cable now and go back to my old XDA ways of solving things. Maybe I find a way to remove some gesture.key by hand.

I am also facing this excact issue, and for me this happened after I sent my phone for repair, the Power IC had to replaced. but after the phone was handed over to me, the password was no longer working.  I have been trying since 5 days. But no luck. I have tried literally everything possible. The only preventive measure for future is to keep the USB Debugging option on from the developer options. This will allow you to use the adb tools by pluggin phone with a pc. Only if I had this feature turned on, I could have easily disabled the screen lock and get the data. It's sad such flasgship phones have no workarounds.

I am suffering the same problem... MyS20+ not recognizing the pattern after changing it directly .... I was shocked and tried it many times... I tried even the old one (expecting it may did not accept the new pattern )... NOW  I am locked for 24 hours for more than 11 times...

searching and reading about the problem a lot ....many reasons may cause it related to technical issues or users  But no clear solutions from Samsung..... even local support center provided the factory reset as the only solution that is a problem for the user...

I have  my google account hoping Samsung allow using it to unlock my phone and other users too ...

After factory reset we need our google account to sign in to our device  due to FRP feature..... !!

why do not use it to solve lock problems and save our data!!!! and Samsung customer loyalty as well

I can see my device activity from my google account with some details but can do nothing saddly >>>

Samsung phones should not allow customers to activate lock screen before activating Samsung account and any other feature to save them from such problems.... not all of us well educated about such rules

what is wrong Samsung!!!!!!

I logged in to my google account to find my device S20+ .. that required the pattern ... I used the old one (it was rejected normally) then I used the new one that was accepted  ... I felt happy and waited till 24 hour on my phone to pass and tried it but It was rejected   ...

now it is rejected on both my PC browser and my phone

And the worst of all ...  minutes after creating and logging in Samsung account I received emails that there is a  logging in from another different country..!!!!!

THAT is not fair to lose our data and devices..

I really do not think to buy Samsung phones any more ..
