@Tterram Hello, check the applications that have permission granted to Contacts. For a while, you could experiment with removing this permission from other apps and third-party apps and see if it is resolved. Greetings.

Do you have multiple contacts apps? Like Google and Samsung contact apps? If yes there is some conflict

If you haven't done already look to see what us syncing in relation to your contacts as this maybe the culprit.

As a process of elimination can you remove/ force stop one of the other contacts apps / accounts and then see what happens.
I use the Samsung Contacts app only to which I've had zero issues @Tterram

I am another victim of Samsung poor software. My S21 suffers from the same issue.
