Hi All,
Hoping someone has a fix. I recently purchased a S22 Ultra. Now I'm left feeling like I shouldn't have.
The issue:
I'm connecting my phone by USB cable to my car. (I've tried this in two different cars - Mercedes 2017 E-class and a Volvo XC60 - both have the manufacturer headsets - so nothing modified there). Neither car recognises the Ultra S22 (by cable) and so Android Auto does not even start.
I can't connect Andoid Auto by Bluetooth. I can connect the phone by bluetooth for calls etc... but this is not via Android Auto.
I've already tried:
1. deleting the app (reset back to factory version - as you can't delete it off the phone)
2. updating the app via google play store
3. clearing cache and deleting storage
4. removing permissions / and allowing them again.
Is anyone experiencing this problem - i.e. the CAR not recognising the phone for Android Auto?
Clearly to me, this is an issue with the phone.... maybe the phone is not sending / using the right protocol to connect with the car (i.e. the signal the S22 ultra sends back to the car via the cable (or something like that)).
I've read elsewhere that others have solved this by buying a wireless adaptor for their car and bypassing the cable method - but this kind of defeats the purpose of having a flagship phone!!
I very much doubt this is an android app issue. The S22 should be backward compatible with apps - if it wasn't then no old apps would work until an update was released and that clearly isn't the case with other apps. So I can't see how this is an Android Auto fix that's required.... its a fix that Samsung should apply to their devices.
Am I the only one with this particular issue?
Does anyone have any fixes to this? Can Samsung recommend anything else?
fyi - my old phone worked perfectly with both cars (cable method)

I have the same problem. S21 Ultra connected to the car, S22 Ultra gives me an error message: Sorry, cant connect. I tried your advice and used an adapter but no difference. Also doesnt make sense, why should an adaptor USB C / USB A solve the issue?

Hello,
Is the lead that came with the phone male C to male C?
The adapter you described would not fit a standard cable ( C into phone the A into car.)
Would you post a link please. I have the same issue with my s22 ultra and the car screen.
Kind Regards.

The real problem is a software issue so see my previous emails about the APK file to download, the cable is more about the standard USB input in the car, so it needs a high quality adapter to allow the galaxy to connect to the car

Thanks for this update! Just bought a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and it refused to connect to my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback. I ordered the same adapter off of Amazon and I am praying it works. Never had this issue with my older Samsung Galaxy. Samsung needs to think more about compatibility with older devices. -_-

Hi, thanks for your advice - I've been having no end of trouble using my S22 Ultra in my 2021 van - my old Samsung worked perfectly. I used to plug it in and off it went, now when I plug in I get all sorts of error messages that I have had the van back into the garage twice and its new! I've checked the USB by plugging into to van and phone and doing the diagnostics on the phone and the USB is ok. However, I now can't use Google Maps on my van dashboard nor is the USB charging my phone..... screenshots of the error messages I keep getting.

You'll need to go back in my thread to find it, but if you can't find it search up "APK file to fix Android Auto on Galaxy S22"
