Can no longer download updates via mobile data? No wifi

So the UI update has landed for me on EE here in the UK.

I have an unlimited data plan and use it as the home broadband for everything, works great as a router, faster than the broadband we had and saves mkney. So I don't have WiFi. 

Never had an issue, always simply hit download whenever an update is out and it does it's thing. However now, it refuses to let me and you get the pop up download failed find WiFi etc.

I'm currently pretty much homebound due to illness and a broken leg, no WiFi, any ideas? No hardship the device works but I'd like to update it if I could.

Do you have another device? Make a mobile hot-spot on the other device and connect to that.

Have you made sure (see screenshot) this is turned off? If it's been turned on for some reason. It can cause your phone to wait for a WiFi connection to commence download. Where as, if it's left off. The phone will ask you if you allow a network download, which it warns may cost you money.
I always have mine turned off as I'm like you. I have unlimited data so don't need WiFi at all.

Aye it's off but just keeps saying connect to a WiFi network to download.
Never done this before with previous uodates so something has changed. EE UK

Sure that would seem like a simple workaround but what's changed, why do I have to do this now all of a sudden?
And needles to say I don't have another device, just this.

Any new info on this issue? I now have the same problem? Phone now requesting software update needs to be downloaded by wifi? Could always do it with mobile data before.

No nothing. I ended up just using WiFi elsewhere and waiting whilst it updated.
Never got an answer ,although there have been usual security updates since which work fine over data as normal

Today I got an update on my s21 ultra and since 2021 I was able to update with my data no problem  until today, for some reason it wouldn't let update through my own data, even through hot-spot, I have another s22 ultra and the same thing, it was until li connected to my work WiFi that updated straight away 🤔 my family had iphones and they COULD NEVER updated throught their data or their hot-spot, they always use mine (samsung) and it works. So maybe samsu g doing smth similar 🤔🤔
