@guytu: Next time the issue occurs, try heading to Settings > Sounds and Vibration > Sound Mode > Sound > Volume, and make sure all the sliders are at a suitable level. I also recommend checking Settings > Notifications > Do not Disturb, to see if a schedule is toggled on that might be muting your calls and alerts.
