Galaxy s21 ultra, IMEI: [RIMOSSO]. My device is from the US. Verizon branded. I can use my phone with an Italian SIM card but I cannot receive updates. Verizon told me to contact Samsung and Samsung told me to connect to Verizon. It has now been months and I still have an outdated device. I have tried smart switch. Verizon says I cannot open an account with them as I do not have a permanent us address. On the biometrics and security page on my phone it says there is an update available but when I tap there it says the latest version is installed on my phone (one UI 5.1). IS IT still a matter of time to wait for the update or is there an issue with my device? Something to to with OTA or CSC. I would really appreciate it if an expert could give me some practical advice as this is getting very frustrating

Hi,

If your device is from the US and branded with Verizon there isn't much we could do. If you share a full screenshot (or two) of the Software information page in settings we can confirm or not this. You can find it here:
- Settings
- Informations about phone/Phone Informations
- Software informations

Make sure the entire page is present in the screenshot(s).

Yes, as i previously assumed. The installed software is from Verizon and the updated are managed by the carrier not by Samsung US (Unlocked) nor Samsung Italia. There is nothing which could be done. Maybe in a Samsung Repair Centre they could do something because firmware modifications especially in this case are not allowed.

Yes, reading online looks like that branded devices (T-Mobile, Verizon) didn't receive any updates

So there is a way but it's against the community guidelines to discuss

Unfortunately updates are not available in a official way for us branded devices

I don't know if I got it correctly, but it seems that the problem is that Verizon is not updating your device, right? Yet, if you search for it online (I went to a few forums), it seems that the new UI6 update rolled out for the S21U on the 1st of December 2023.
I don't know if you were already here in Italy at that point, and maybe if you were, that may be the issue.

Do you have the possibility to activate a VPN?
Maybe changing your location could solve the issue.
(Just like we used to do with Pokemon Go!!)

Hi everyone!

Aside from the VPN test proposed, just remember that every Country has an indipendent logistic infrastructure, thus software updates based on it.

Those may differ consistently for nature and timetable of releases.
