Gallery transfer S9 to S21

Help,  I have just treated myself to an S21 and thought that I could easily transfer the gallery from my S9 using smartwatch.

However I try I cannot transfer all of the photos.

I have more than 3000 in myself gallery but smartswitch seems to randomly select a maximum of 900.

Couldn't you transfer on to a USB c stick and do it that way...

I just back up on Google photos so don't have to bother which phone I move to. My photos are there.

Cloud is the future.

How do you download from Google photos to you phones gallery
