S20+ -- Notifications on lock screen not going straight to app after unlock

On my iPhone, when I tapped a notification on the lock screen, it would take me straight to the app after unlock.  

On my new Samsung S20+ this doesn't seem to work.  After I tap a notification, unlock with face recognition, and then swipe, I end up simply on the home screen, regardless which notification I tap on the lock screen. I tried double tapping the notification with limited success. Am I doing something wrong?

I think if you have it on icons only it doesn't allow it unless you turn on details I could be wrong
