On my iPhone, when I tapped a notification on the lock screen, it would take me straight to the app after unlock.     On my new Samsung S20+ this doesn't seem to work.  After I tap a notification, unlock with face recognition, and then swipe, I end up simply on the home screen, regardless which notification I tap on the lock screen.
