A problem with phone calls

Hi everyone!

Just wondered if anyone has a method to help fix this problem... not sure how it has come about and any help would be very appreciated.

Basically when I get a phone call and answer the call, the other person on the line cannot hear me. They can hear me however if I use speaker phone (not ideal). Anyway, if I call them back, the audio is fine the normal way and I don't need to switch to speaker phone at all. 

These are the methods I have tried:

1. *#0283# testing the receiver - most of the time there is a clicking/static sound and I cannot hear my own voice back
2. Cleared memory cache and data from the call app
3. Speaker phone activated upon receipt of a call which is not ideal
4. Started phone in safe mode to see if an app is conflicting with the settings, no joy
5. Taken SIM card out and rubbed the gold chip
6. Checked update on settings and latest version is in use
7. Tested microphone in defualt voice recorder app, also tested a voice message in WhatsApp, all works fine
8. Factory reset phone, no joy and a waste of time

After trying all this the receiver still makes a clicking/static sound

Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe I am missing something, it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue?

There was a new update today, sadly it didn't fix the issue.

Today I decided to backup the phone and perform a factory reset and it seems to have fixed the issue. 

 

After the reset I restored the backup completely apart from the installed applications which I've been installing manually and it has been working properly the whole day.

 

As such I suggest you do the same if possible, a full backup and a factory reset, after than do a restore to have the phone as it was and hopefully yours will be fixed too.

that's good to know, thank you, I did a factory reset before but it didn't fix the issue initially, maybe now that we have a new update I should try again?

If you can then I suggest you go for it. 

 

When restoring the backup however I recommend not restoring the applications, install one by one and see if it keeps working, this way can if a third party application was the culprit it's easier to detect.

Hi Guys.

 

I too have had this problem. Weirdly it also affects answering on my Galaxy watch if connected to the watch by Bluetooth. If the watch is standalone then it works fine but the Note still has the fault.

 

Also a factory reset did cure the problem but it returned within a few days. Samsung Tech have suggested sending it in for repair but in the meantime I have "Reset all settings" which also has cured the problem without deleting everything. Let's see how long it works for this time. Glad I'm not alone

hey!

It's awful isn't it.. I tried the system reset and it cured the problem for like you said a few days and then it returned... a pointless excercise to resolve the issue for only a little bit, so I won't be doing that again, guess we will have to wait for them to fix the issue in another update.

Samsung have also offered to me to send the phone for repair but if it's software and not hardware I doubt there's anything they can do to fix it. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem either!

Very annoying as I'm now testing my phone a couple of times a day. So far so good....

 

The courier was supposed to arrive to collect it today but I've postponed collection by a week to continue testing it. I've also deleted all apps that I don't use regularly.

 

Out of interest are you in the UK?

Has anyone had any luck with this getting fixed? I've still got the problem and wanted to know if anyone has been able to work around or get a fix?
