Well, I came across this article. It do not contains full list of phones supporting both 802.11k and 802.11r. By testing, I found out that A40, A51 and A02s supports wifi roaming, but A41 and A12 not... For me, it seems like phones with Snapdragon has support, MediaTek lack support

They state in the article that all Samsung phones on Pie and above support it but that is clearly incorrect.

Thank you for letting us know!

Could it be because they have a Exynos chipset? Accoording to GSM Arena the A40 , A51 and AA02 have an Exynos chipset not Snapdragon.

Good point, thank you. Both A40 and A51 have Exynos and wifi roaming is working as expected. A02 has two versions, one with Mediatek, one with Snapdragon:

So the problem with wifi roaming is only with Mediatek chipsets?

  • A13 5G does not support wifi roaming. I did side by side test with Samsung S7 and moto g fast while moving around in my home with mesh network. The S7 and Moto easily switch to the best mesh node but A13 is frozen to initial node even when signal drops to one bar or zero bars. Not a bad phone otherwise but will return it. A13 has Mediatek processor.
