Just got an annoying notification from the bloatware app, Samsung Cloud Assistant.

Yet something else I must adb disable after upgrading to oneui 7!

Who in their right mind ties them down to Samsung's ecosystem?

Odd that you turned off notifications and still got one... I've never had them. Though, I wouldn't call it bloatware, being you bought a samsung device an all

The SmartThings ecosystem has over 285 million users worldwide... youre not tied down, just a backup

While you didn't give much detail on the notification, guessing it was to enable samsung cloud things. That is the automatic and free backup system in your phone. If enabled, you can get all your data back if your phone breaks. Wouldn't consider that bloatware lol. That's a really handy feature.

Just wait till you find out about the google one backup system still on your phone

@Members_vxjFm2h: While notifications for Samsung Cloud Assistant can't be disabled completely, you do have the option of heading to Settings > Apps > Search 'Cloud' > Samsung Cloud Assistant > Notifications > Tap the tick marks below 'Lock screen' and 'Notification pop-up'. This will reduce the visibility of the notifications to make them feel less intrusive.

I never turned off notifications nor do I wish to.

If it's not stock android then it's bloatware.

There's no way to confirm 285 million users. Also, does it count if it's pre installed but not used?

Why restrict yourself to Samsung's ecosystem? It reduces your options when buying future phones.

How are you restriced? Its just an extra backup??

You can use smart switch to move to ANY android and "move to IOS" for apple... do you know what the cloud services are? It doesnt make you remotely tied down

I successfully disabled it with adb commands from my computer.

Notification said, "Use your screen lock for encrypted data"

Google remained disabled after the one ui upgrade :smiling-face:

That notification means the phone will encrypt your backup data using your screen lock, not some random code it generates.

This improves your security so even samsung cannot access the data and makes things easier for you because you don't need to save a giant recovery key somewhere.

Disabling google I sorta understand, that's only free for 15gb, but samsung gives you free unlimited cloud backups forever

Stock android has no camera app btw. Stock android is kinda a myth. It's literally the minimum required to show things on screen. A stock android device is unusable

Plus you bought a samsung, you paid extra for the samsung apps and features, extra things to improve your device experience. Samsung does an amazing job updating and providing extra functionality with it's apps, no matter how small. Eg, the notes app. Free, smooth, just works. If it didn't exist, you'd go to the play store to find one, 99%have ads and don't look very good
