@garbled: Which app are you using when you encounter this issue, and is it persistent across all apps? If you connect to Wi-Fi or Mobile Data, then open the Samsung Keyboard > Tap the cog in the Keyboard Toolbar > About Samsung Keyboard, are any updates available that might address the issue?

Thanks to all those who replied. My apologies for having given incomplete information. The problem is not persistent across all apps; it appears in MS OneNote but not when composing an email or a text message. Re Samsung Keyboard, it says that the latest version is installed.
