Firstly-
If you go into the phone dialer app Dial *#0*#- a Samsung secret code that is a Samsung secret code that opens a diagnostic mode for testing various hardware parts of the phone
If this doesnt work
settings- security and privacy - autoblocker disable it, try the code and see if it works
If its an update causing this, clear the cache partition;
Connect phone to PC/laptop 1. Turn off the device. 2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and Power key. 3. When the Android logo displays, release both keys. 4. An "Installing system update" message may show briefly before the Android Recovery menu options appear. 5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight "clear cache partition". 6. Press the Power key to select. 7. Press the Volume down key to highlight "Yes," then press the Power key to select. 8. When the process is complete, "Reboot system now" is highlighted. 9. Press the Power key to restart the device

@Jacobnewmarch run the diagnostic tool found in the Samsung Members App to see if that highlights anything.
May I suggest to perform a forum search as you may find already existing threads with help and advice within.
If not then arrange an assessment via https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/repair

@Jacobnewmarch: Have you noticed if the flashing screen coincides with any actions that you are performing, or any actions that the phone is performing? For instance, if you head to Settings > Accessibility > Advanced settings > Flash notification, is 'Screen flash notification' toggled on?
