This morning's ui8 update has left me without a phone as now the Sim is no longer detected.

after trying all the online suggestions (including multiple mobile setting resets) I tried a factory reset. However, this also downloaded ui8 , so that didn't work either.

I've just noticed the GPS reception is also non functioning.

I have raised an error report and received an acknowledgement.

I seen a few other's with the same problem.

I have ordered a new A56 trading in the faulty, bricked A53 after the update. Once this comes out and Samsung acknowledge it, I will be asking for credit for the A56 purchase. I probably needed a new phone anyway, but they need to pay for breaking our phones and the inconvenience we've suffered.

My A53 has gone back to giff gaff it's still under warranty so they can either fix it or send replacement the sim works in my old s10 so waiting on response from giff gaff for what's next

Sim card stopped working on this phone immediately after software update to version UI 8.0. If Sim card is removed and inserted into another phone, it works perfectly fine. Problem is with this firmware version!

Why in the world would you give them more money after they bricked your phone? I'll bet you a million $ you won't see a dime from them.

🔥 broken giffgaff uk... I do notice most of the comments mentioning o2 and giffgaff. Not sure if its specific to that network? Don't have another sim to test. Phone is bricked until Samsung/O2 fixes.

Seems to be across a range of providers Three. O2. Giffgaff etc.

Some have suggested it's phones with US firmware (U at end of model number). However, I posted on the US members site and there were several users also having problems and they had presumably US sims.

Welcome to the club Ralph. On another note Samsung have just offered to try and repair my phone. I did point out that the phone is not broken just the firmware that they loaded onto it. So I'm still in the club for moment.

Hi, things are getting even worse it seems. I succesfully flashed to the previous firmware 2 days ago but the phone silently upgraded again to the bugged firmware. Today, I wanted to check if they pushed a bugfix. Yes, there is a new release, and you know what:

1) it is still bugged

2) it has a incremented Bootloader number: impossible now to downgrade to the previous firmware.

!$%# (excuse me)

Hi,  user "gottalovasam" gave the trick previously in this thread: look at  khanistek video on google, it's exactly what I did. Notice that if the latest patch from samsung with a new bootloader revision installed on your phone, it's too late. The procedure won't work any more, perhaps you can root the phone and bypass bootloader checks but this is even more complex and apps might refuse to work on such a system.
