HELP!!! MOBILE PHONE LOCKED, ASKING FOR PASSWORD: "Your password contains at least 4 characters, including at least 1 letter."

My (wife's) phone (galaxy A52), exactly 1-year-old on this date, suddenly, out of nowhere, started asking for an unlocking password: "Your password contains at least 4 characters, including at least 1 letter."

The phone was not ever locked, neither with PIN, nor fingerprint, nor with a password.

All we can think of is that some OS update happened, and the phone just locked because of a bug in the update procedure.

We tried to unlock it via Find My Phone, but UNFORTUNATELY, even though the phone was located successfully and the service connected to it, but when we tried to unlock, it just said that the remote unlock option was not ON.

This is just terrible. No words to say. Desparate.

Factory reset is out of the question.

What to do?

So far I couldn't get any help. Samsung support (UK) haven't been helpful. They are keen on factory reset which I do not want as there is extremely important data in the device (s23 ultra). But still trying to get Samsung do something about it. I suspect the problem might be linked to software issue. Never give up!

Had my S23+ for a year. Exactly the same problem, gonna have to pay £30 for Samsung to reset the phone. It's a total con. Tried Samsung and Google password as suggested but no good

So... bad news for you.

Samsung services always say it's not a bug, they say it's a user error while using the phone. From what I can understand, too many users are making the same "mistake" while using a samsung mobile phone for this to be an user error or a usefull feature....

Of course that if so many people are having this issue, it is not a usefull feature to be locked out of your phone forever: the only solution is to factory reset the device.
