Galaxy A53 microphone not working during calls

The main microphone (mic) on my A53 5G (at the bottom of the phone) is not working during calls. If I switch to speaker mode, the other mic works fine. The main mic works when I record a voice note and when I use the Diagnostic function, it records without an issue. It just doesn't seem to work during calls. 

I've tested it in Safe Mode, it still doesn't work so it wouldn't appear to be an issue with another app. Does anyone have any idea what else I can try before I go for a factory reset?

You’re right, the Samsung phone app was not showing under the mic permissions. I have just downloaded the Google Phone app and checked again. This time, the Google app was shown as having permissions under both Phone and Microphone, so I have just tested it. During a call, I could see the green mic/privacy indicator at the top of the screen was on showing that the app was accessing the mic. However, the voice quality was dreadful again until I switched to speakerphone. I’m thinking it’s an issue with the bottom mic (Mic 1) rather than a software issue.

It should still be under warranty to get it checked out, in case it is a hardware issue.

A quick update on this. Neither Samsung nor the retailer were able to diagnose and fix the fault. After some frank discussions with the retailer they agreed to replace the handset. They no longer had the A53 in stock so have replaced it with an A54. Needless to say, I'm happy with the outcome.
