Sorry if this was posted already - I couldn't find the previous one.

The issue is that I would like to plug usb c to ethernet adapter to the above phone to make a wired connection to my router. Have tried using said adapter which lights up when connected to the phone. But when I  scroll down and tap on the message/box for usb connection all the options apart from charging are greyed out. When I go to connections-other connections ethernet is greyed out. Have switched off wifi &  mobile data before connecting adapter.  Do I need a driver to do this? - there is a driver for usb on the US Samsung website - is it legal and safe to download drivers from US site if you are in the UK.  Have been told c port on phone is USB 2 but from what I gather on the net if you use a USB 3.0 adapter it is backwards compatible - is that correct? Any suggestions much appreciated.

Yeah I think the old USB type 2 might not allow it make a wired connection to your router.

Have subsequently bought another adapter which works with the phone which says backwards compatible on the box.. Shame that the Belkin one doesn't work.
