I have just replaced an old Samsung Android mobile phone with a new A16-5G one. The old phone connected with a standard USB cable and allowed files to be exchanged with Windows 10 via This Computer.
However, the A16-5G is not being recognised by Windows.
I have loaded onto the PC the latest Samsung device driver but without change. Moreover, I see no settings on the phone for USB connections to be configured as per the display at https://deviceguides.vodafone.co.uk/samsung/galaxy-a16-5g-android-14/connectivity/transfer-files-bet...
Given that the new phone charges from Windows, is there a setting I am missing somewhere? Should not a new connection be recognised by Windows by default?
I am using a USB-C (phone-end) to USB-A (PC-end) cable. Changing the PC's USB port has had no effect.
Can anyone advise?

"If that notification on the phone isn't there, the issue probably isn't to do with windows, it's something physical" Does this mean a fault with the phone?

I have tried several USB ports on the PC already. Perhaps a new cable is the best approach.
