Check that the email address is correct

Make sure you have enough space. For example, if you are using Gmail and your Google storage is full, you won't be able to receive emails.
Check sync settings and make sure it's synced and correct. More troubleshooting steps can be found here:

Try a forced reboot by holding down the volume down key and power button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it. When your phone resets, you will feel it vibrate.
First check with your email provider that the issue isn't with them right now. You can do this by attempting to log into your emails via your browser.
If all looks good then go into your accounts section and delete the email account and then reset it back up to see if that helps.
