Adaptive brightness

Bought my A13 4G in the January sales, but I've never been able to get the adaptive brightness to work properly. It'll occasionally do it when I force the setting on and off again, but most other times I have to manually adjust it myself. 

I have tried clearing the app data, resetting the brightness settings and everything is fully up to date. Any ideas for a fix?
