Hey,
I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.
Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.
After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.
The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.
The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!
I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.
Anyone else having similar problems?

Hi, I've had the same probloem and just thought I would share my experience
This is a hardware problem, nothing to do with software
The problem comes and goes, it can be fine for weeks then comes back, I tried every suggestion from lots of different forums but nothing works....cleaning the charge port, turning notifications off, updating system, turning things off in safe mode, using different leads, uninstalling apps, non of this works!!!!!
Took it to a samsung shop, in 1 hour they changed the charging port and a ribbon cable, said they have had lots of them and its a known problem, mines fixed now and not done it since.
TAKE IT TO A SAMSUNG SHOP, dont waste hours upon hours like I did trying pointless fix's

@b-c wrote:I turned off notifications and generally fiddled with settings which seemed to stop the USB connection on/off issue from waking up the lock screen, though the issue was still there, but at some point that stopped as well and at the moment the phone is working normally.
I too bought from Carphone Warehouse but haven't had any boards changed. It's all a bit inconclusive and I wouldn't be surprised if the problem re-occurred since nothing I did seemed to make any difference at the time!
If it is still in warranty, take back to,the vendor and make it their problem, that is what they are for after all.
Best of luck
What settings did you change in order to stop the notification from constantly keeping the screen awake? That's really just the biggest problem for me, as it drains my battery a lot.

I have the same problem.
I tried a bunch of the fixes but nothing worked out for very long. I had some luck getting the screen off for short period but the usb notification still remained. I had tried the charge with the fast charger from fully drained but that didn't work. Eventually I did the opposite and drained the battery but did the slow charge using only the computer. It worked to a degree I could shut the screen off but the notification was still there with the difference that it was slower to switch from connected to disconnected. After a full day it was fine until I ran Call Of Duty then the screen wouldn't shut off. After about 10-20mins it started to shut off again. Finally the next day I charged it using a 2.0 wall charger and it was similar to the PC where the screen was working but the notification remained. I tried one last thing before I was going to bring it in, I was trying the clear cache and data in the usb settings which I have tried before with no success but thought I would try one more time after I cleared them both I went into the Battery Settings which is also in the usb setting menu and I turned off "allow background activity" and I hit force stop. After that I shut down the phone and turned it back on. The notification is now gone and the phone is running normal. The setting "allow background activity" does come back on automatically after I turned the phone off and on. That battery menu is only thing that finally worked for me but considering all the different results in the forum it may have just been random like alot of people who it went away for and it has only been a day and people have said theirs came back after weeks. If it does I will bring mine in. Anyway I read pretty far into this forum probably about 35 pages I can't remember seeing the battery menu mentioned maybe it was however but I figured I would post it just incase is wasn't.

Did you have to replace mother board?this seems to be an ongoing issue with the a70.mine is only 2 months old and its saying connected then disconnected constantly. Samsung should be doing something by now to correct the problem with all these new a70 phones with so many people having same problem

The usb thing just started happening to me a few days ago on my a70. I had it for only a month and a half and it's already bugging out like this. Seriously.

Guys only possibile way to fix problem "Android USB disconected then connected:, message in notification bar, which does not alow phone to sleep (light off) is to change charging board in local Samsung service.
I am this done before 5-6 months for free and now phone works like first day.
That's all good luck

With my A70 it started a couple of days ago. I have it for 6 months and hadn't any serious incident (water drop/hard fall/etc). It seems a software issue, as it's affecting thousands of users. If it's a hardware issue, QA failed big time.

Hello everyone. To update my phone is still running fine 3 weeks after my previous post. I am not using the fast charger. I know it may be a software issue from the update but it seems to me it may be a software flaw but that it is connected to the fast charging. I think the quick charge may just overload or overheat the parts, that may be why either the usb port needs to be replaced on some phones or the whole motherboard it could just depend on what goes first. If you guys do get it working I would forget about the fast charger unless there is a software update that fixes the issue just use normal USB C.

I am having the same issue..I tried going to service mode and wiping the cache partition but it did not solve the issue. If you find out how to fix it please contact me.
