A70 screen will not dim/USB connection.

Hey,

I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.

Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.

After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.

The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.

The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!

I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.

Anyone else having similar problems?

i got same problem mate ... its been 12 hrs  even i put my phone in rice ... i got that issue from last night when my phone got wet .

Well, after almost lose my hope, your tip really works for me. I first do a factory reset, wipe data, and reinstall everything in my A70. but everything was at the same way. Screen dont turn off e the message still there. After going in Usbconfig and clearing the caches, restart and all fine. For while...... Thanks for your help.

Hi all, I had the same problem, the USB connector was flashing connected and not connected and the screen wouldn't sleep... Completely draining my battery within a half day. 

I had read that the problem is due to either dirt etc or water getting into the charging port.

So last night I put my phone in a bag of dry rice and left it all night to obsorb any moisture..... So far this morning it has not appeared and all is right in the world... .hope that helps.

If you ask for problem with dim light, you need to change usb charging board in service and problem is solved.

So I dont know if this fix has been posted yet since there are 51 pages and i tried this out before reading absolutely all of them, but I was having the same issue with the lock screen waking itself up and the usb notifications coming up
I thought about a full factory reset but I really dont have the energy to back up all of my files fully and then go through with a full reboot if i dont have to
anyway, I got the problem to go away by doing what it asked for, i pluged it into a usb cable and directly into my PC and after it confimed that it was pulling a charge, removed it. And after that the bug had stopped, back to the correct type of always on display!
I dont know the lifespan of this fix, but its quick enough that its definately worth a try

I have a brand new a70, had a few weeks. Woke up yesterday morning and my phone has started to have a constant android message saying usb connected/ disconnected. Not been near any water or dirt. What should I do?

Same to me - i had this issue some monthes ago and then it went away (i dont know what i did - i followed up many tips but most not worked).

And now since yesterday the issue is back.

It is a shame that samsung didnt care about it... so what should we do now ?
