A7 - No MTP connection after Pie update

Have been through everything, including different cables and computers. Set developer options on and USB to transfering images. Also used *#0808# to set to MTP there. Nothing worked - phone just charges.

Got on to Samsung chat to find out the MTP option has been removed. This is now an ongoing case and I am awaiting a phone call on the matter. Only purchased the phone in February and they have changed something which I based my purchase decision on. As an analogy, you wouldn't buy a car which then had a software update sometime later which meant you could only use it in daylight hours!!

Can anyone who has an A7 and has updated to the latest Android version (got mine last week), check if they can connect to their laptop / computer and confirm that there is no longer an MTP (or any other option!!) - phone merely charges.

Just tried both of these again. Only had the phone a week. Would a factory reset make any difference then not update the software?

I am in exactly the position. Most frustrated and annoyed at the point of sending the phone back.
My friend has an A50 and no such issues.

Hi. Can you keep this updated as I have the same issue and only had the phone 2 weeks.  Smart switch worked but my laptop does not see it for file transfer.  Cheers

Hi, have you received (checked for and installed) the Android 10 update yet? Installed mine last night and all works again.

Just to clarify, I have the Galaxy A7 (2018) model.

YEAH, I JUST REALIZED THIS. Spent the last hour and a half pulling out my hair trying to find an answer that ISN'T obvious to anyone with IT experience, only to find out it's Samsung removing the entire service from the device?! WHO DOES THAT?! I'm p****d as hell right now.

/using a Samsung Galaxy Tab A that I only JUST BOUGHT IN JANUARY!!!

MTP connection could not establish after the Android Pie Update.

My Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 phone does not establish a USB connection with the computer after the Android Pie update. It is very unreasonable for a device like A7. I have tried every possible solution for connecting my device with a different PC. I also tried all Developers Options for USB debugging to resolve my issue, but I failed to do so. MTP connection not be established, Unknown Device error 43 occurs.
It requested on behalf of millions of Samsung user's that Samsung should resolve this issue on a priority basis. Hance the A-series market will decrease sooner or later for just one biggest problem.

I am having the same issue.  I've had my phone for a year or more. MTP was there at one time but no longer there.

I've had the exact issues with my S8 which I've had for about 2 years already. USB options worked perfectly until the Pie update. I've tried every solution I could find but no luck. Eventually I had to replace the battery so included the USB problem as a note when booking in my phone. No luck again, agents only reply was they were unable to find a solution.

if you will connect the phone to laptop/PC, install the Smart Switch to PC install the driver only (no need to use the app), the PC should now detect the phone
