Hi
To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy A55, simultaneously press the Side (or Power) button and the Volume Down button. The screenshot will be saved to your gallery.

Steps:

Locate the buttons: The Side button is usually on the right side of the phone, and the Volume Down button is below it.

Press simultaneously: Press both buttons at the same time and release quickly.

Check the gallery: Your screenshot will be saved in the Gallery app, usually in its own "Screenshots" folder.

Additional methods:

Palm swipe:

You can also enable the "Palm swipe to capture" feature in Settings -> Advanced features -> Motions and gestures -> Palm swipe to capture. This allows you to take a screenshot by swiping the edge of your hand across the screen.

Bixby or Google Assistant:

If you have Bixby or Google Assistant enabled, you can say "Hey Bixby, take a screenshot" or "Hey Google, take a screenshot

It should work—strange.

Try a soft reboot; hold power and volume down for 30 seconds (or until the phone restarts).

See if screenshots work again.

You can use One Hand operation + for taking a screenshot. It's available as standalone Good Lock module. Personally,  I never liked taking a screenshot with buttons,  I always use  edge panel for that, and with One hand operation +, for me that's easiest way to do that

The easiest way to take screenshots is to press the screenshot icon in quick settings.

Thanks to all. I was simply pressing too long. The post which said press and release quickly solved my problem. I also replied to an email post thinking it would appear on here, but that is not so.
