I am running out of space on my s24 and don't like to pay for someone to have my data. I will be using a nas home cloud before I do that.

Just a way to make you pay for storage.

Sd cards can share sim slot and as for speed etc. Use the same memory from in the phone on the cards 😆

Are sd cards faster than cloud ,yes. Just backup. Get a good brand etc.

Its just all controlling the way we live.

I love Samsung but will get a A55 5g soon as miss the storage.

Then another brand when out of date and watch to match etc.

Bring back sd storage campaign

Samsung listening 🤔no

Hi! Regardless of option, nor argument to have, SD cards are going and being replaced with cloud. If you don't like to use cloud, use a portable SSD—faster, more reliable, stronger.

With a realistic view, most, if not all brands are chucking them.

(Samsung don't see these forums—Samsung members all—support—feedback)

*If you're concerned about data...you should really be reading the agreement you sign when making an account/ using any phone... but at the end of the day- in a respectful way, no brand cares for your personal saved data of some random geezer

SD cards are slow. To use external peripherals then the data needs to be transferred by external bus speeds to a dated form of storage media.

Fast storage as provided in latest smartphones, are able to run at UFS4.0 speeds at between 2GHz to 4GHz speed. Depending on read or write.

MicrsSD cards have a maximum access speed of around 200MB/s. This is more than 10x slower than UFS4.0 storage for read and write.

Additional challenges of an SD Card, being to provide that external interface bus, and also to waterproof any ports that might be used. The reason older phone models still have MicroSD is that they haven't been updated to the top specs... like the flagship phones.

If you are going to put up an argument for your discontent of this issue, then at least get your facts straight. 😉

SDCards are not being phased out to 'control' you. They are being phased out because they are slow... and old technology.

You can buy an SSD or at least a traditional external portable hard drive. The SSD is more expensive while the External hard drive is cheaper. The SSD is more compact and safer to carry around and less prone to damage while the External Hard drive is less compact and more prone to damage due to it's internal design, but nevertheless it's worth buying if you can't buy a SSD due to being more expensive. There are different brands and designs, but because of dealing with Samsung phone, I would stay in the ecosystem if I would be to use a SSD whereas for external hard drive I would still go for the known brands.
