In my contacts list, some have multiple phone numbers under "custom" headings. These have been acquired over many years. It is with more than a little distress that I find that although the numbers are still there, all of the custom headings have been restored to just saying CUSTOM. If anyone has any thoughts on how this occurred, or even more importantly, how I may know if I can retrieve the names, I would be extremely grateful.

Are you using Samsung contacts or other? Have you got a screenshot of this ( edit out names, numbers etc)

I assume that I am. I don't think I've changed it, although I think my contacts are stored on Google

Yes you are. Those contacts under the '&' heading...is that what you mean by Custom?

No. I have, for example, a hospital in my contacts, and it has been very useful to enter multiple phone numbers under their department names. The names being put in under the "custom" feature. All the numbers are still listed but I have no way of knowing which department they belong to (unfortunately there are quite a few)

Ahhh, right, I get you. When did this occur? Have you installed a backup after a reset? If so, then I'm not sure if custom fields get backed up. OR, it could be a text / numeric formatting thing. It could even depend where those contact details were originally stored ie phone, google, or SIM card. A screenshot of this would be helpful.

If those contacts are stored on Google, then are the individual departments stored there too. If you switch to Google contacts, then do they show up?

Yes, the custom label that you have circled is it !!
I have just looked on my Samsung tablet and the department names are still there ......

Can you xfer them across manually?
