Earlier, during the Beta Program, Google Pay app was not functional. However, this time it is possible that the situation will change - currently, some responsible people are trying to make it work also during the Beta.
In the meantime, I recommend you to use the Samsung Pay app 😉. Google Pay app will certainly be working in the official version of the software.

I experience the same thing this morning. Upgraded to UI4.0 and android 12 two weeks ago. Was working fine no problem even this morning. I used it on buses and train rides but suddenly on the transit it refuse to go through and prompt "Phone doesn't meet security requirements". What's is going on.... oh by the way there was a GPay app update and I just updated yesterday then experience this today.

Same problem - I cant pay for anything.
I restarted app, added and removed cards. Re-installed the apps. Ensured all google play updates etc were up to date.

Same problem 😕 glad i read this before wasting any more time factory resetting like the Google support suggested 🤣
