serial number only 14 digits

I have a 870 EVO SATA 25" drive put in my sons laptop and I am trying register this drive and the serial number is only 14 digits, the hard drive is installed in the laptop so I can't easily look at the hard drive and see if the S/N match. 

How do I get this product registered?

I am trying to register my Samsung SSD PM981A but I only see a 14 digit SN on the physical SSD and the Samsung website requires a 15 digit SN to register my SSD. Can you help me get the 15th digit?

I just purchased one from Amazon, and Samsung Magician says it's counterfeit 😕

I am stuck with it now, and I don't see anything out of the ordinary?
