Hi There,
I am having trouble getting Samsung Magician to detect my new SSD. After much research I have eliminated the following causes:
- Activation of the disk. It is currently operating as a secondary "D" drive in windows, I can read and write to it fine.
- BIOS SATA mode. Running AHCI with the "standard SATA AHCI controller".
- Versioning. Both driver and Magician are up to date according to windows.
- My model is the EVO 870 1TB. I had read that the NVME driver might be required but it is not applicable to this device and won't install.
- I have tried both connecting to the motherboard and via USB. The fact that the drive functions fine in windows tells me the power requirement is satisfied.
Samsung drives seem to be the only type of device NOT detected by their own software! This is a bit of a software flaw if you don't mind me saying. Literally any other piece of software is able to detect it.
Many thanks
