I would like to use my Samsung SyncMaster TA5750 as a multimedia monitor via DVI.

How should I connect the audio?

It depends on the DVI output socket type on your GPU and whether it supports audio or not. If not try an HDMI to DVI cable and see if that works instead

Thanks. How can I check if the DVI output socket type on my GPU supports audio or not? The motherboard is an Asus Z97M-Plus; its date of EC Declaration of Conformity was April 2014.

It won't then if you are using the Intel integrated graphics rather than an add in card. You'll need separate speakers or headphones

By the way I tried looking up your monitor and got nowhere, so either it's so old Samsung have taken it off their support site too or the model number differs somehow. There's literally no results for it on Google or DDG

Thanks again. Here's the general link https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/LT27A750EX/EN/ and the manual is available here https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model/LT27A750EX/EN/; when i attached a standard stereo cable from the line out jack on the motherboard to the DVI audio in jack on the monitor, there was no sound.

Then you do need headphones or speakers then but it's probably not a bad thing as monitor speakers are rubbish anyway
