I just bought this maybe a month ago, so it has the newest firmware (I double checked after setting it up).  My pc went into sleep mode earlier but when I turned it back on nothing shows up at all. Just a black screen. Even pressing the menu joystick fails to get the OSD menu to show. I can turn the monitor off and on though.

Technically this happened twice now, the first time I was able to get it to come back after unplugging the power source from the monitor. But after a second time of going to sleep and turning my computer back on again, its back to all black. I've tried all manner of combination of unplugging power source and input source to no avail. I even tried the DP and HDMI wires on a different laptop and different monitor. They work fine, so its not the wires. I even tried the G7 on another laptop and still same black screen issue.

A couple times, the screen started to flicker back on to show my desktop but that never lasted more than .5 seconds. It did happen a few times. One "series" of flickers seemed to happen when I was messing with the power cord.

I'm not sure what to do at this point, I've even rebooted in safe mode and restarted, shut the computer down for a bit and turned it back on. But nothing. Everything else is fine, even the laptop recognizes that the G7 is plugged in and has it listed as one of the active monitors (I run a dual monitor set up, the G7 and a Lenovo, plus the laptop screen. Though generally I close the laptop lid and that screen is off).

Hello,

I'm using my Dell G3 with NVIDIA
GeForce GTX 1660 and G7 Odyssey 27'' as a second monitor.
My Firmware was updated to v1011 and NVIDIA drivers were updated too.

I had the same issue. Everytime that the monitor goes off (standby or turned off) and try to turn it on, it turns the lights on, HDMI is recognized but the lights goes off, monitor goes black and even the OSD stops to work.

I realized that It seems to be a misunderstanding between the monitor and the input (windows/nvidia) when turns it on.
The G7 monitor only recognized the input and turned on after I set the refresh rate to 60Hz on Windows advanced video settings or NVIDIA Control Panel.
Different from that, it only turns on if I unplug and plug HDMI again.

You can set to 144Hz after that, but when it's turned off, I always have put it back to 60Hz on Windows/NIVIDIA or unplug/plug HDMI to turn it on.

I don't know if it's either a Samsung's firmware problem or NVIDIA's driver problem.

Try reseting monitor to factory defaults. Sometimes monitor will "false start" when woken up. It will turn on leds for a few seconds and turn off. Give it 30-40 seconds and it should reboot. Anyway there is some glitch in firmware when the monitor wakes up on non standard settings.

Odyssey G7:

I have the same problem returning from sleep mode.

OSD panel stops working and the screen goes black , And the only solution is to remove the power cable and connect it again.  And what is worse, there does not seem to be a solution from Samsung.

The first monitor I bought I had to change it due to stuck pixels.

I will have to change this second monitor for this new reason.

It seems unbelievable to me that a monitor of these characteristics presents so many problems.  And what is worse, there does not seem to be a solution from Samsung.

Hi All,

It is fitting that there has been more activity on this post in the last couple of days.

The issue I had posted in reply to this in September returned in the last month and seemed fatal, as no matter what I attempted the display would fail after intense flickering for a couple of minutes and ultimately just sit on a black backlit screen with no ability to access the OSD. This would happen on all refresh rates and across several devices that I had connected.

I contacted Samsung who asked me to do everything that I had already done again, surprise, this did not fix the issue, and ultimately ended up sending it to Repair Tech (Their Authorised Repair Centre in the UK).

Got the display back last week under the promise of the issue being resolved through the replacement of the monitor's whole main board, however came to setting it back up this weekend and what do you know, the issue has not been resolved.

Tried contacting the chat support again, to be told that I would need to send it for repair again, but having looked into consumer rights in the UK I would be entitled to a refund so I am pursuing that avenue instead as I honestly think the display is not fit for purpose.

My personal view of this is the monitor is poorly designed, it clearly cannot handle the advertised specifications and has little to no ventilation to handle the heat that such a high refresh rate display will produce.

In the meantime, spent a little more money to get the ROG XG27AQM, it comes calibrated from the factory and the colours look spot on.

Hope you all find help with your issues, and do not face the same poor service I have.

Hi all,

I remember finding most of these short term solutions back when I originally had the problem (hard reboot, unplug and plug back in, changing refresh rate, etc.). Hard rebooting and unplugging/plugging in only worked the first time around, which is why I eventually moved to try to repair. After 2 tries their repair team basically gave up and I was given a replacement. Luckily I haven't had any real issues since (just the occasional flicker of HDR turning off and on, but that's infrequent enough). Other than the wait time on shipping the monitor out and getting it back each time, the service was friendly and nice enough. Just wish they could figure out what this issue is that's affecting so many people.

Hello bawb88,

Did you notice if the firmware was updated to 1011.3 (or something like that)?

I can't remember on my original before the repairs. But when it came back the first time, I'm pretty sure it was updated to that version.

I get the same problem - it's happening more often recently since the latest firmware 1011.0 didn't happen before that I can remember.

Auto switch of monitor input still doesn't work (but it does for £50 monitors)....

1011.0 I think causes this problem. I have to remove the monitor power it's the only way to get it to work again. Monitor screen fully black, pushing button on the screen does nothing, no OSD.

I am currently also having this same issue. At first the power LED wouldn't even turn on and the screen was black. After many attempts consisting of swapping cables, trying different sockets for the power cable, hard resetting by holding the power button, etc.., I gave up and contacted support.

After leaving it with the power cable plugged in for a couple of hours, the power LED turned on. But OSD wouldn't boot up and if I touched the power button it would happen all over again. Luckily I have a spare monitor but this is so irritating as I've only had this monitor for less than a week. I'll update when the monitor returns but to anyone reading this and also having this power issue. Support might be the only answer.
