I've had this monitor for about a month now, coming from the Neo G9 that I had since released with absolutely no issues. I regret this "upgrade". Here's just a few issues I've been having....
PC is connected via DisplayPort, Xbox SX is connected via HDMI. It does not matter what settings I have configured for either device, it will intermittent black screens only while gaming. This issue is not present when the Xbox is sitting at the dashboard, or when the PC is sitting at the desktop and/or normal PC use outside of gaming.
Have tried multiple settings on both PC and monitor; G-Sync on and off, VRR on and off, Adaptive Sync on and off, HDR on and off etc. Nothing solves this issue
As we know, not all games support 32:9 and some games will scale a 16:9 resolution to your monitor. One game that does this is PUBG. To solve this I first started to change the monitors aspect ratio (32:9 to 16:9) via game bar while I had the game running, but once I exited the game the monitor would go black. In order to get an image again, I would have to go into game bar and change the aspect ratio back to 32:9. So then I started to change the monitors ratio before running the game. My desktop displays fine, at a 16:9 ratio. Game starts up in 16:9 but then when I exit the game I'm met with the same black screen. I need to go back into game bar and change the aspect ratio to 32:9 to get the image back.
Now the above issue may not sound too bad, but while I'm in game at 16:9 and have to open Steam for whatever reason (notification, message, voice chat etc.), the monitor also goes and stays black until I switch the aspect ratio.
I just recently discovered this issue a few days ago. This monitor will not display my motherboards BIOS (ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO). When I try to enter the BIOS, the monitor will display a message that there is an error with the connected device and will turn off in XX seconds. I've tried multiple desktop settings; lower resolution, lower refresh rate etc. Nothing worked, wasted a bunch of time on something so simple that a cheap monitor can handle.
The above issues are not acceptable, especially for a high end gaming monitor. This is no upgrade from my Neo G9, as I had no issues whatsoever. There are topics on Samsung's own community about the intermittent black screening (which seems to be the number one issue), and all over reddit and other forums and Samsung as been silent. Last firmware version 1402.6 was released back in March. Either Samsung is lazy to fix these issues via an update or the issues cannot be fixed with an update. Either way, Samsung needs to address this.

I have same issue. I got the monitor for about 2 months. I had changed the HDMI cable. I thought I had fixed the issue, but the problem came back. I got the Black Screen every hour of using while playing games.
A recall of this monitor is a must for such an expensive electronic.
This will be my last Samsung

My last Samsung also. Try lowering Hz in windows to 120Hz. Helped me and haven't had black screens since. There was an update like a week ago but it didn't fix the issue at 240Hz.

I've been running @ 120Hz since I started having this issue, Now the black outs are happening @120Hz, This monitor needs a recall or a class action. After the mainboard replacement its gotten worse. I sent an email to the CEO but I doubt that will do anything at this point... Running the latest FW 1507.4.

I have been pulling my hair out over this issue for months now and wasn't able to find much of anything until I found this thread.
I have a G95SC and can confirm that I am having this EXACT issue and that the problem was one hundred percent caused by a firmware upgrade that Samsung pushed out.
So, how do we get this in front of Samsung? I'd like to see about getting a coordinated effort together to try and get this on their radar because they definitely **bleep** this up. Is anyone aware of anywhere else that people are posting about this issue? If we can get enough people together, we may be able to get visibility on this issue.
Side question, does anyone have the firmware file for any version of firmware prior to the 1406 firmware? I believe 1402 was the firmware that did not have issues. If you have this then please message me directly.

Everyone with this issue, please email the CEO's office so we can try and get some movement here:

Hey everyone,
Below is what I sent to the CEO's office. If desired, please feel free to use it as is, or modified as you see fit. My hope is that if enough of us send something very similar that they may get the message...
To Whom It May Concern:
I ask that this matter be taken seriously on behalf of myself and the many affected S49CG954SN owners. The problems described below are not hardware related and should be trivial for Samsung to resolve.
Several months ago, Samsung released a firmware update for the S49CG954SN OLED Gaming Monitor which had severe negative consequences for many device owners. Prior to Samsung pushing the initial problematic firmware, the monitor functioned correctly and as expected, with no remarkable issues. Post upgrade, the monitor now exhibits several symptoms of impaired functionality:
* Inability to access system setup screens (black screen, will not display output)
* Monitor reporting incompatible resolutions at native resolution
* Monitor randomly reporting an error has occurred with the connected device
* Monitor displaying black screen when switching in/out of fullscreen mode
* Monitor displaying gray screen with blue vertical lines when switching in/out of fullscreen mode
* Monitor repeatedly attempting to switch in/out of fullscreen mode
No standard troubleshooting processes correct this issue. It is not a connected device-specific issue, configuration problem, issue with the cable, user error, or other end-user problem. Your support teams are absolutely aware of this problem but do not appear to be taking it seriously. Instead, they run through their scripted support checklist and then schedule hardware repairs that do not correct the problem.
The Samsung Community forum and Reddit contain several threads describing the issue. For reference, here are two examples directly from the Samsung Community forum:
* https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Monitors-and-Memory/Odyssey-49-quot-OLED-G9-G95SC-Needs-to-be-re...
* https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/computers-it/odyssey-49-quot-oled-g9-g95sc-needs-to-be-recalled/...
Please have your engineering team assess the firmware changes that resulted in the noted functionality degradation and subsequently release a firmware version that resolves the issue as soon as possible. If a revised firmware version correcting these issues is not feasible in the short term, then Samsung should provide an optional downgrade to a functional version. The belief at this time is that firmware versions prior to 1406 functioned nominally, while version 1406 and newer result in the described problems.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We hope to have a resolution as soon as possible.

Just to update on my case: I did get a response from the CEO office and after they reviewed my case and my frustration they gave me a full refund for the unit. Good luck to the ones suffering with this issue.

I'm currently reaching out to different law offices to see who's willing to start a class action lawsuit against Samsung for this matter.

I think I have the same issue. Seems like screen goes to black most of the time this occurs when monitors is mode switching to/from full screen. But the issue seems to also be VRR related. I've noticed that monitor sometimes also goes to black when the framerate dips. This also cuts the sound if I'm using monitor for sound output. I have found 2 ways to work around the issue:
1. When monitor goes to black, switch to 16:9 mode and back again. Some games cant stomach it though.
2. Disable GSync in NVidia Control Panel. This fixes the issue for me completely, the price to pay is screen tearing

Hey! Sorry to hear that we're still having this issue!
I haven't had any "blackouts" since I switched to 120Hz in windows display settings.
I'm aware that this is NOT a fix for a 240Hz monitor but it's a workaround that's been working for now without having to switch resolutions multiple times per day as this occurs.
