Hello hm i've recently bought a samsung NEO G9 49 inch monitor, and have been plagued issues

First of all i've got horizontal lines running across the whole monitor on solid Colorurs i think its the FALD array thing. i dont think it should be visible ?... then HDR doesnt work properly it just puts a grey like filter on the screen... and washed out colours

Harvey norman wont replace my unit because they said theres nothing wrong with it. now they wont even go over it with a fine comb because they didnt spend their hard earned money on it....

Samsung were going to send tech to my home but we are in lockdown so they've postponed it...

i mean releasing a product thats half broken and plagued with issues ?. is this what samsung is all about ? we are just overpaying beta testers ?.. Very dissapointing.

Like I said: Don't think of it like generations...

I remembered it a bit wrong though. 952 contains DP + HDMI and 954 only DP.

I have sent my to a service to mention the annoying lines of yellow tones in white bg, darker tones in other colors. Really annoy my eyes after a while.

I also complain about the scanlines issue on 240hz, the HDR issues on windows. (tried a old g9 not neo one) and no problems with HDR in windows on that one. I really hope they sent me a new one and not just saying: there is no issue

I returned mine and I do not regret. Even the student-discount and the external SSD did make it a good deal.

The only really good about it was the size and the speed. HDR will most probably be fixed, but everything else (especially the visible FALD-grid) will stay as it is.

For me, even half of the price would be too much.

I opted for a exchange for new unit. hopefully theres nothing wrong with this one.... but mostly the things thaet annoyed me is the Visible FALD lines. on my unit. and HDR if they fix that. scanlines only visible on left top corner of monitor and yea.. and local dimming needs to be fixed also... yea.. hopefully for the best~

ok 😞 I hope I can return mine as well. HDR I do not care about but FALD lines are not acceptable. I had so many issues with my eyes after a while really get tired of see those lines.
Feel so bad for a monitor. If somethings need a clean screen it's computer monitors that you spend lots of hours Infront regardless of a tv from more far distances.

Samsung should have added that to the descriptions.
NEO have annoying stupid lines so if you want to use this screen for more then 1 hour, it's not a screen for you... because it's actually *****...

Yea just taking awhile for it exchanged since it was lockdown and yea..I really hope it comes before my work starts again. And nothing is faulty on the new unit.  Or else I'm going to get refund because I really don't want to keep doing this *****

I believe I have worked out the issue with this monitor.  I am seeing some sort of compression happening.

Display port 1.4 can't do 240hz on a 4K display.

Please read the article and this paragraph below.

In a practical sense, DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC is far more capable than without it. The base bandwidth of DisplayPort 1.4 remains unchanged at 32.4 Gbps, but where the standard DisplayPort connection can support 4K at 60Hz with HDR and 30 bits per pixel color depth, it can manage either 4K at 120Hz with HDR, or even 8K at 60 Hz with DSC enabled.

The next-generation DisplayPort 2.0 standard will go further still. Alone it will enjoy a bandwidth well in excess of what HDMI 2.1 can manage, but with support for the newer Display Stream Compression 1.2a, it can handle resolutions and refresh rates far in excess of anything else. It will enable 4K displays at up to 240Hz. There's also the option of two 8K displays running at 120Hz, or a single 16K display at 60Hz.
