This should be easy, but I can't get it to work.
I have a Sony XR-65X95J TV and have recently purchased a Samsung Q990C soundbar. Checked the Q990C manual and it seemed easy enough to control the Q990C volume via the Sony remote. I followed the instructions, holding the Woofer button until it said 'All-TV Remote' and tried it out. But it didn't work. So I'm having to alter the volume using the Q990C remote.
All firmware is up to date. The TV and Soundbar are connected via HDMI eArc and the sound comes through okay. The TV remote is set to IR. I'm just unable to alter the volume with the TV remote.
Oddly, when I press the volume on the TV remote, the on-screen display shows a number and the id 'Audio System', suggesting it is controlling the soundbar. But is has no effect at all on the actual volume.
Possibly related issue is that the soundbar does not turn off when the TV switches off, which is also annoying. I've had a frustrating day trying to fix these issues and I'm seriously considering returning it at this point.
Apologies if I'm being an *****, but what am I missing here?
