Hi Guys,
the bass on the subwoofer has significantly dialed down when playing any content, from stereo to 5.1 to atmos, you don't feel the typical home theatre effect. I also did soundbar sound test and subwoofer is really low, are you experiencing the same issue? (sub level is on +6) I specify that I don't like to have subwoofer too loud, but in my case is extremely too low.

thank you

I know this is an old thread but I think I found part of the reason and I hope it helps someone. Turn off the virtual setting. The bass difference is night and day.

Where can I find this setting?

Cycle through the settings from your remote. It's after you set bass, treble, and each of the speaker settings.

Hi, unfortunately the  software update was the issue, it had nothing to do with settings.

Did you try it?  I got that software update too and my sub has been terrible in the years since. What I'm saying is that I think the software update only nerfed the sub when the virtual setting is on. Perhaps that's why some people say that their sub didn't suffer the same problem.

For me, changing the virtual setting didn't change the subwoofer volume issue 😕

There's gotta be a solution to this...
I've lowered all the speaker volumes except the rears to bring the overall volume up and it's still disappointing.. tried EQing the low frequencies all the way up and everything else all the way down but this only works in standard mode and not surround. The rear speakers only work in surround.

I've tried everything in this long long thread... So lame Samsung

"rear speakers work only in surround mode"?? What are you listening to? A stereo source? It's quite normal that surround alters frequencies (including those destined to the subwoofer), it's applying processing to audio. To listen to the original source, you have to use standard mode and, of course, you have to listen to a multitrack source to make rear speakers output anything.

If you just want to hear on the rear speakers a copy of the front speakers for stereo sources, I remember there's a way to change how the upmixing is done, but I don't remember how to do it. Samsung introduced this alternative mode in some firmware upgrade. However, after trying that, I still believe that the best experience is to listen to the original source as it was conceived, so I personally always use standard mode. And the subwoofer works fine for me.

lol my feeble attempt to push the subwoofer... The little Vizio 5.1 with a 4" sub I have in my bedroom has better bass at half volume..
