I have this problem for over a month now.
I have a Samsung TV model UE49MU8005 connected to a Pioneer Receiver model VSX-LX302. Everyhting is well connected, as far as i know, TV firmware is 1210.8.
Tv is connected through a recent HDMI cable (UHD, ARC, etc etc) from the ARC output of the receiver to the ARC input of the TV (HDMI 4). Anynet is on.
When I disconnect the cable and connect it again, it starts identifying the source on the TV and it always says "unknown source" so i have to manually configure the tv remote. After it detects my Receiver, turns it on and off ok, and finishes the connection. Everything seems ok. But the problem starts here:
- The sound does not come out through HDMI from the TV if I select an app from the hub. Neither it does if it's connected to the antenna of the tv.
- I have sound from the cable box and from a PC both connected to the receiver.
- The receiver has CEC on but it the sound is not there. When I disconnect the CEC on the receiver and connect it again, it starts searching for CEC devices but the answer is "no CEC device"! Although the TV is connected of course..
- Anynet stops working too, it doesn't control my receiver when this is happening.
- This bug goes on and off. It works sometimes, other times it doesn't. It seems that theres is some problem in the TV that disconnects automatically HDMI CEC, and then it just doesn't come back.
- I changed cables, update firmwares, disconnected everything and waited, then connected again, called Samsung support and they just don't seem to know what I'm talking about... The problem always persist.
Frankly, I'm considering returning the TV. It's new and for the price it should NEVER cause such hassle.
This is about something that should work perfectly and is not doing so. And it seems that everyone at Samsung knows the problem exists, they just don't know how to solve it... (according to the countless discussions about this topic, at least at the US community..).
Please help!
Regards

I've got same exact problem. Samsung doesn't seem to care, stand behind their product nor even fess up to it. A disappointment. A $2500 Pioneer 7.1 sound system, a $1500 Samsung TV and NO reliable Anynet/HDMI-CEC /ARC connection. A sad problem nearing 2020. My faith in Samsung products has dropped a notch but guess they are too big to care.

Workaround for ARC with a receiver:
Order in turning on devices...first turn on receiver, then attached devices and last the TV.....I have other HDMI-CEC issues caused by Samsung Anynet+, but ARC problem can be solved by turn on ordering. At least with a QLED 55Q70R

Again what works for some does not work for everyone with different components and configurations. No excuse why there isn’t a firmware fix for this.

follow up: went for the optical cable, everything works ok, except once in a while need to adjust volume level of the soundbar from it's remote to match media source (streaming from NAS or sat box).
... but, to be fair against samsung i must admit that sales person in the shop commented that most TVs undependent of the make and model have problems with ARC technologies when more than two devices are connected simultainously. Have not tested this.

I am now another victim of this frustrating Bug. Had a Samsung 55NU7400 connected to my DENON AVR3312 since May 2019 and the Audio Return Channel has been working fine for several months. Then suddenly, I find myself unable to listen to Netflix through my home theatre speakers. The option to direct the the Sound through to the HDMI Receiver is missing from the sound options. Also, the smart remote-control no longer controls the volume of my DENON receiver.
After a whole evening checking cables and changing various options on both the AVR and TV and power off and on sequences, I could not get it working again. The fault "FIXED ITSELF" a few days later. But now its gone again.
I will persevere and try the various tricks reported in this forum. If I manage to get a resolution I will share the "fix-procedure" here.

After many frustrating hours - I think I may have found the solution to my problems with this.
The solution was simple:
- Always turn on the soundbar first, before turning on the TV.
- Always turn off the TV first, before turning off the soundbar.
In other words - the TV must never ever under any circumstance be allowed to see that the soundbar is missing. If it does the TV goes into full crazy mode and refuses to recognize the soundbar no matter what. Only way to get it working again is a complete system reset.
This is especially problematic if you have audio equipment which goes into auto standy. Such is the case with my soundbar. After 10 minutes without any sound the soundbar turns off. I've found that this really is no problem as long as I remember to NOT shut the TV down if the soundbar is in standby. Instead I have to make sure that I turn the soundbar back on again first, then turn the TV off and finally turn the soundbar back off again.
I still keep my fingers crossed, but its been 3 months now since I last encountered this problem.

This seems to work for me too. Let's see how long it works.
- Always turn on the soundbar first, before turning on the TV.
- Always turn off the TV first, before turning off the soundbar.
thanks for posting Loadinglevel1
This is definitely a software bug that Samsung should fix ASAP.

Just got a 65Q90R and have issues with anynet and ARC with my old Onkyo Nr509 which earlier was working perfectly with a Philips OLED.
Been browsing trough and what will work for me is to disable anynet and enable again which is cumbersome to do everytime you switch on TV.
However what seems to work 100% is if I launch the netflix app on TV it will send dolby D to receiver which fixes the problem. If I launch youtube it will not since it's not sending Dobly D to the Onkyo. As for now it seems my workaround will have to be to open netflix everytime i turn on TV which sucks.
Problem seems to be with my TV decoder and the output it sends. Will test tomorrow if it helps to connect to diffrent port on the oneconnect box but i doubt it.
Likely I will have the same issues even if I get a samsung soundbar like HW-Q90R? Seems like it.
No Fun, would not like to return since I'm not sure what I would get instead. Don't want an OLED in my living room due to reflections and a lot off daylight.

I can't believe its so impossible to get in touch with somebody actually in charge at Samsung. Why is there no way to file a complaint /report the issue? Speaking to customer service reps does not solve it as they never pass the issue along.
