Hello,
My 930c soundbar recently updated its firmware to the new 1010 version as I accidently selected auto update in the smart things app. It now sounds flat, compressed and no better than the tv speakers it was bought to replace.
Is there going to be a new firmware to replace 1010 soon to fix this as the sound was brilliant before?
Thanks

I also updated my Q990c sound bar with this firmware and, like you, found the resulting sound terrible. A distinct loss of clarity and punch, and, as you say, flat and compressed. I messaged Samsung on their Facebook page, and they replied that they weren't aware of anyone having problems with the update, which is clearly untrue because I've visited other threads on other websites where others have said the same about the sound quality. It would be useful if Samsung themselves would check this out, because the sound has been ruined. Unfortunately, reverting to the previous firmware isn't given as an option.

I have the same exact problem...this bloody Smart Things app auto updated my 930C firmware and now the sound is nowhere near what it was before the update. I am so p*ssed off, I hope we get a fix soon. This is not acceptable.

I'm going through the same thing.
The problem that the sound quality sounds small or tight after the firmware update.
The mainboard has been replaced twice, but symptoms occur every time the 1010.5 firmware goes up.
The service center engineer says no such problems have been reported.
However, there are many people with such problems in this Samsung community.
So I'm going to ask the service center to replace the product this time.

It's been reported to them, so they're lying.

I have the same problem with the Q990C after the 1010.5 update. With the previous 1004 firmware, the sound quality was exceptional — now it’s garbage. I’m very frustrated, especially considering how much we spent on these soundbars. Honestly, it feels like this update was intentionally released to reduce performance and push customers toward newer models.
I contacted Samsung support, and unfortunately they just told me to bring the soundbar to a service center . I explained that the issue is clearly software-related, not hardware, and that bringing such a large and heavy device to a repair center makes no sense.
They didn’t offer any real solution. They just called me to take note of the complaint, nothing more. No actual help, no escalation, no contact with a real technician — just a useless phone call to “collect information.” Honestly, it feels like they’re just trying to look responsive without doing anything concrete.
I really hope they release a software update soon. It’s been like this since the end of December, and I’ve been stuck with a soundbar that just doesn’t sound the way it used to. It honestly makes me angry every time I use it... such a disappointing experience for a premium product.

Well, if their intention was to push customers towards upgrading to a newer model, here's one person who won't be! These things are expensive enough as it is. It makes you wonder, though. Why don't they make their firmware backwards compatible? As for issuing a new firmware, well after hearing that they bricked a certain model of soundbar with new firmware, I'd be wary of updating it to a new one should we ever get one. Not sure why they'd ask you to take it to a service centre. Hold on, of course I know. To screw even more money out of you! Well, the soundbar will have to suffice for now. If and when it does give up the ghost, I won't be replacing it with a Samsung!
