1010.5 Firmware Update for hw-Q70R/hw-Q80R/hw-Q90R Soundbars

Good morning friends.

I've performed the firmware update for my HW-Q90R soundbar.

Given that there is no official statement from Samsung with the details of the update  I would like to check with the community what new features have been included.

- How can I check now the firmware version on the bar, to check if the rears are updated as well? In the past just by holding the sound mode button on the remote with the soundbar off the different versions appeared on the display.

Now it is not case. Now by holding sound mode for 5 seconds with the bar off it enables a new functionality: Test Tone

NEW FEATURES

- EARC functionality is enabled, this is great.

- Test tone: What it this for? It performs a test of the sound of the different channels, is it useful for anything else?

- Now in the sources appeared TV SPEAKERS, what is this for?

I would like to check specially if the update has included any update of the rears and subwoffer

Collego HDMI arc soundbar su arc TV Poi da soundbar HDMI 1 sul lettore Sony è quando ascolto un film in DTS HD master si sente Piano sia voce che surraund, invece con dolby si sente bene.prima avevo ysp 2700 è non avevo questi problemi

With an AVP between the tv and soundbar you dont have a problem. The problem is when you want to play HD audio format movies from usb/hdd directly from the tv and your only connection is hdmi arc.

Sì Ho capitolo però quando guardo un film in DTS HD master con La ysp 2700 non Ho mai avuto l'impressione che sì sentisse basso anzi spaccava dì brutto.invecce Con La Samsung sento basso, guardando Con lettore Sony 800x .sta cosa sembra strano non è che magari legge solo il DTS normale

This review is very clear about the audio formats on hdmi-arc/earc and hdmi-in. In my case using a tv box solved the problem of not having earc on both tv and soundbar. https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/samsung/hw-q70r

It depends. I have a Kodi plex box but when connected to HDMI ARC, the soundbar shutdown (box->soundbar->tv arc) : D-IN, then PRT then shutdown. Everything else is ok (tv->soundbar via optical, blutooth to soundbar...)

Sarò sincero ma non ho capito, se io prima con la soundbar ysp 2700 tramite arc sentivo tutti i formati audio sia Dolby che dts non capisco perché la samsung mi chieda earc per i formati dts HD. Ripeto io con la ysp ascoltavo di brutto i formati 7.1

I will be honest but I did not understand, if I am first with the ysp 2700 soundbar through arc I heard all the audio formats both Dolby and I do not understand why the Samsung asks me for a headset for HD formats. I repeat with the ysp I listened badly to 7.1 formats

Use it on hdmi-in not arc. HD audio formats ar not supported via arc due to the lower transfer rate. On hdmi-in you can get up to 18gb (if i remeber corectly) which is enough.

the problem if using from HDMI IN is I could'nt have the audio from TV when watching it. The soundbar would only be usefull for my Kody box...
