When using the Samsung Health app on my new Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, if I select Kayaking or canoeing it doesn't use the GPS to record my location. Walking, hiking, cycling and even outdoor swimming does, but not kayaking.
Why on earth would you NOT want to record your location, distance travelled, speed etc. Do the developers think kayaking is an indoor sport?
If I start it on my phone it seems to record the GPS location OK.
I've seen a few people over the years asked on various forums about this but it's never been fixed.
How do we get a message to the developers and request they add this?
Thanks.

First time used the Watch5 for SUP this weekend. Was very surprised that it did not have the GPS and even not own category for SUP, instead used the kayaking.
I'm as well missing the possiblity to update the sport at watch or app if using different during the event.

does anyone know if Apple's latest model watches support GPS on kayak? I came to a point to "make the move" after years of waiting.

Still in mid 2024 this is not working. Should be such a quick fix, almost disrespectful of samsung not to solve. Thinking of the new Ultra that should come out in a few weeks, maybe AI can solve it 🤔

For the record, GPS with kayaking works on the Watch 2,3 and 6. No good reason at all that this doesn't work on 4 or 5. Watch6 uses same Google OS as 4 and 5.

2025, using fit3. No GPS support when starting the activity in the band, but it's available when it's started from the phone and get heart information from the band. however it won't display on the band (as it is with any activity started from the phone, another missing feature).
