What is it?
A health tracking wearable with a select few monitoring capabilities
What can it do?
Sleep tracking, heart rate, steps, stress tracking and exercise tracking..
What can't it do?
there's no NFC, UWB or GPS
As with all Sammy wearables, you flip the case and you almost immediately get a promopt on screen.
Due to the sample sizes available, I went for the smallest from the available sizes (11) but have been sent size 14 which is too big for my preferred placement, so have it on my thumb.
This sample is in this black (probably my preference) but also comes in gold and silver.
The ring itself is very light weight but the case is quite weighty in this crystal clear box which is usb c and wireless charging capable, the ring wireless charges inside - notified but an LED light bar around he ring.
First things first....software updates, plugins and set up..
Who's it for?
A few initial use cases that spring to mind ..
- if you wear analogue watches but still want to track health metrics, this is a subtle option.
- if you want to measure sleep but don't like sleeping in a watch
- if you want to travel super light but monitor health metrics.
Initial thoughts
As a galaxy smart watch user...I struggle tocurrently see the benefits or purpose.. when I try to use the ring sensors it states the watch is doing all the heavy lifting, so I can only assume whilst I'm wearing the watch...the ring isn't doing anything?
Without GPS I wouldn't want to use it for outside exercise as I like to see the routes and mapping.
No NFC - this would be a great addition for payments and other NFC capable smarts...
BT/UWB - whilst it does have BT to pair with the phone, it would a great addition to use this (and/or UWB) for things like a car key (Tesla)
Wrap up
As with most things, it's great to have options for technology and to have products that fit YOU and YOUR set up.
I'll be testing the capability of the ring for as long as I have it, going out for walks and sleeping 'watchless', letting the ring do the tracking, seeing how long the battery lasts and general durability.
