The so called return policy is a joke not only do they not refund any discount from a "trade in" but they also deduct a minimum of 20% off your refund, which means the price you originally splashed out is reduced considerably.

I have recently come across this issue. Just by opening it and linking to your phone you are going to be hit with a minimum 20% charge. I find that unfair, how do I know if I won't like the product if I don't try it on or check if it does what I want it to or how it feels to wear etc . There is only so much you can search online before needing to see it hands on. I live in a remote area so can't just pop into a store to check these things out.
When going through the checkout process there is no mention of the return policy other than the standard 'you accept to our terms and conditions/agreement' but as already said, probably 90% don't read this in detail. Companies should have a responsibility to highlight key things easily.
So if you go ahead with a return and they deem it 'used' they can take a percentage off and you have no say, you cannot even cancel the return so have to take a risk.
I wonder though how can they check if it has been linked to a device if you reset it back to when it was first opened?

What I find hard to fathom here in the UK (2025) as that they’re now offering a 90 day ‘try and buy’ option where you can hang on to the phone for between 45 - 90 days and if you don’t like the phone (and one assumes it’s been used quite a bit during this time period) you can return it for a 100% refund subject to wear and tear yet the 14 day policy doesn’t allow for this yet one would assume that after this short period of time, it wouldn’t be used as much as in a 90 day period - that doesn’t make sense at all to me - Samsung are greedy, unscrupulous bar stewards! Also, as others have said, how on earth can you try something without taking it out of a box and turning it on! It would be easy enough to do that and then re-set to factory settings, remove from your Samsung account and ensure it looks pristine and boom! Err, probably not, they can probably tell if you’ve turned your phone on by the battery status, IMEI number etc…. Either way we’re stuffed - I won’t be buying any Samsung products in the future - if the likes of Apple, Amazon and even Peloton can accept returns that have been used but are still in as new condition, then why can’t Samsung?!!
